CE is a blanket term for J-10C exported. I think J-10CP is specifically tailored to the needs of Pakistan.

I also realized one thing— J-10CP is the first Chinese fighter aircraft to be exported with high thrust domestic turbofan engine. This is a major milestone. The number one hurdle to Chinese aviation exports has been overcome.
Right, I think this was a ws10 story just as much as j10 story.

Just think about what could have happened with this program if ws10b was available and reliable sooner. They basically waited until it generated as much as thrust as the Russian engines they are replacing and probably more reliable before they put it on j10.

I am just a little saddened that j10 will likely not be in too many other air forces. I think paf will eventually have a fleet of 70 to 100 j10s. The only other major order I could see is from Iran. It would have been nice if j10c was available for the Thailand contest. I think it would have won that one. I do hope they promote it more aggressively over the next few years. Keeping production line open would give greater support to the j10s still in service with plaaf.

I don't think Iran would go for it. They are a large country and want a heavy fighter, which they will obtain in the form of Su-35. Thailand wants F-35. If Lockmart shuts them down I think the J-10C still has a chance. One of the reasons they sent J-10C to Falcon Strike 2019 was to impress the Thai Air Force.

I wonder if these J-10CP are from Guizhou new production line. It does seem like a different batch to what PLAAF has received. Will the PLAAF be receiving new batches from Guizhou with J-10C like the J-10CP or will they be similar to previous CAC batches.

Why do you think they are from Guizhou already?

From what i know, this GAIG-rumour is just a rumour yet and since all so far posted recent images showing J-10s are still from Chengdu, I see no reason to think at Guizhou they are already in production.

The new J-10CPs would have Pakistan Air Force compatible AEW&C datalinks, IFF system, weapon control interface and radio communication system.

The only thing surprising me is the absence of the refueling probe. PAF operates their Il-78 tankers fleet, the refueling probes would make J-10CPs more flexible for various missions.

I think the real problem for Thailand is that they wouldn't be able to afford F-35. The Thai politicians don't seem to understand the difference between fly away cost vs actual combat ready cost vs export cost with spares and supplies. Also, I don't see how US would give permission for exporting F-35 to a country that buys as much hardware from China as Thailand does. But J-10C in any Thai competition would have to go against Gripen E/F, which would have incumbency advantage as well as all the cost saving affects of not adding a new aircraft type.

As for who is producing J-10CP. I mean this batch is definitely Chengdu. But at some point in the near future, CAC J-10C production will probably wind down. It's going to take a few months for Guizhou to be ready to produce J-10C in a timely manner.
