J-10 Thread IV

There is no way the US would let them buy Chinese aircraft.
Quite the contrary!
USA won't really mind Ukrainians buying J-10.
First because it won't happen, since China will more likely sell the versions with AL-31 engines, which the Ukrainians are more familiar with. And this would be almost immediately blocked by Russia.

Secondly, if China sells J-10 with no Russian made components, this will complicate Sino-Russian relations. Making both parties distrust one another. China is NOT stupid. Strategic relations with Russia is by far more important than what little gain it would be from Ukrainian purchase. So this is most likely an one-sided Ukrainian PPT, without any real intentions to sell from China.

Of course, there are the third situation, in which China has secretly conjured a plan beforehand with Russia, to provide the J-10CE with a Russian engine, in order to entrap Ukrainian air force into increase reliance on Russian-supplied main components. This is also not very likely because I don't think the Ukrainians are that stupid to be trapped by this.

The latest versions of the J-10 use Chinese engines. I doubt the J-10 still uses any Russian components.

While the discussion is fun and all, is this source reliable? Maybe it is just speculation by Ukrainian military fans.

I'm not sure how true this is but I'll leave it here:

I doubt they'll buy J-10s considering Ukraine's geopolitical situation.
Ukraine and J-10 is definitely not gonna happen. Ukraine will go with the F-16 anytime. Its the cheapest fighter of the bunch, and it definitely fits NATO standardization. Besides, Ukraine is not an independent nation. Uncle Sam will make sure that Ukraine chooses American in the end.

Precisely the opposite.
China will NOT want to sell Ukraine J-10. Because this would REALLY piss off Russia. It would be a punch in the face for Russia, which is stuck in between Ukraine and China. If China provide arms to a Ukraine that is hostile to Russia, how do you think the Russians would interpret this?
Russia has no problem selling arms to India and Vietnam

There is absolutely no way that China will sell the J10 to Ukraine.

Ukraine is already in the US' pocket.
Have we also forgotten about how Ukraine nationalised the engine company which China wanted to get?

Plus it would complicate China-Russia relations. Imagine selling advanced fighter jets to the enemy of your "closest ally".

Ain't happening. Maybe only if US wanted to drive a wedge between China and Russia, which I doubt China would fall for this trap

Ukraine is a core interest of Russia. And China and Russia have repeatedly stated that the basis of their partnership and friendship is respecting each other's core interests

I agree, except I arrived at this conclusion thinking that China will NOT be willing to sell J-10 to Ukraine. Chengdu J-10 will not even enter the bid, even if the Ukrainians sent out the invitation.

In fact, I think the Ukrainians will sent out the invitation, expecting rejection from China. And then, use their media to paint China as the "running dog of Russia, with no gratitude to what Ukraine has done for China". This would be a great smearing campaign to blacken China's reputation in Ukraine.

And if China enters the bid, the US would instruct the Ukrainians to set up anti-Russian-components requirements to sour any little chances of purchase, and further stir up Ukrainian population's resentment for China's, as the "running dog of Russia with no sense of gratitude", conspiring with Russia to trap Ukraine into relying on Russian Arms Industry.

And if China is stupid enough to enter the bid and provide J-10 with WS-10. The US would instruct the Ukrainians to do two things:
1. One is to make fake news that suggest that China has sided with Ukraine and betrayed/abandoned Russia.
2. Second is to have media doubting the reliability and quality of Chinese weapons, further tarnishing the reputation of Made-In-China.

This is clearly a non-story. No way would China offer the J10. What’s more interesting is that both the Typhoon and Gripen where excluded. The Gripen especially seems well suited for Ukraine’s needs given their close proximity to Russia means few of their airfields can expect to survive the opening stages of any conflict. Also interesting F35Bs are not on the list. Sure, Ukraine cannot afford them, but that is pretty much the only plane on the market that might give Russia real pause. But I guess Ukraine is just a pawn and not worth the money. Also I imagine there would be significant concerns about espionage or outright defections from Ukraine pilots if F35s were made available to them.
