JF-17 / FC-1 missing from the above chart. Is it credible?

JH-7 & J-10C (FC-20) combo would be a good one for Iran, since it can not get any other options. However, JH-7 might not be a good deterrent because of its RCS. It could get picked off from a distance. J10-C would be a serious adversary for regional airforces.

It is certain this chart is not complete no JF-17, no F-35 fighters...

Maybe the chart is for 4th gen only and they are arguing the JF17 isn't 4th gen?

As for JH7, well it a bomb truck, meant to launch stand off weapons from way beyond the range of enemy fleet defences.

For Iran, they won't be as effective as they are for China since export missiles will be limited to 300km, unless the Iranians get the source codes to integrate their own longer range missiles onto it, which is potentially possible given the pattern of past Chinese exports to Iran (China doesn't want to pay the political costs of maintaining a veto on potential future arms embargos to maintain regular weapons shipments, so prefer to get a big initial order and also sell ToT so the Iranians can make more themselves later even after fresh sanctions, which I'm sure the Iranians also prefer).

Also, considering the geography, and even assuming the Iranian JH7s are limited to 300km missiles, they can still effectively blockade the strait of Hormuz from deep in Iranian territory.

Any US attempts to use the strait would mean US fighters need to come deep into Iranian airspace to get at the JH7 threat, and so would have to face Iranian air and land based AA defences (plus any pilots that have to bail out will most likely end up as POWs).

With potentially S300s and J10Bs running defence for JH7s, that can be a tricky nut for the US to crack.

Both planes would serve Iran very well, but I just don't see China wanting to sell, unless Trump really crosses a line and China feels it needs a response.

Interestingly, I can easily see China publicly fuelling the rumours of such a deal so they can press the Americans on private to remove THAAD from SK in exchange for China to selling those weapons to Iran.
