Smaller airframe? Really?

As for the rest, you have to remember some weight might have been added as well, principly in the AESA radar, the IRST, and maybe in other avionics changes made internally. Thus the overall effect is unclear at this point.

also, on top of that, since J-10B is given more multi-role capabilities, strengthened airframe to carry larger missiles would add weight. And also depending on the mission, it would be carrying more fuel and payload . Even if we factor in weight reduction from the change to DSI intake and supposedly greater usage of composite (haven't really seen that). F-16's got less and less agile from F-16A to F-16C and then from F-16C to F-16E even with improved engine thrusts. It will probably happen to with J-10 series too.

I think J-10B's airframe was actually elongated by several inches (possibly nearly a foot) to accommodate improved avionics. It is, however, worthy to note that going from J-11A-J-11B, the airframe was lightened by composites but avionics added weight and the total difference came out to 700kg less weight on the J-11B. So I'm predicting from that, a drop in weight, but much less drastic, probably half or less the weight reduction going to J-10B from A (due to overall weight/ size differences between J-10 and J-11).
For J-11B, they replaced a lot of older analog system with digital systems, which would have reduced weight. Also, going from the old cassegrain radar to slotted array radar would probably have saved weight too. You are not going to get the same weight saings from J-10A to J-10B, since you are actually adding new sensors like IRST, ECM antennas/pylon, MAWs.

The Captor E of the Eurofighter is supposed to be 100kg heavier than the old PESA Captor D, so 300kg vs. 200kg.

I guess adding 100kg sounds accurate.

If i am reading the texts about captor variants correctly, captor-e is indeed some 100 kg heavier than captor D (193 kg or so)but the main reason for that is that captor-e is aesa array mounted on a rotating swashplate. since aesa array is more bulky and heavier than a planar array of captor-d (not a pesa array), to have it all mechanically swivel around means a more beefed up structure and servos.

I think it'd be safe to assume that a non-swiveling aesa array would not add 50% to weight of aesa captor, maybe it'd even be close to 200 kg, not adding too much.

Of course having a rotating aesa array has its benefits but that's another story.

Could be, but there isn't anything important in the background to require such large blurring out of a picture.

Might be some artsy stuff that we don't know about... Some kind of abstract art... It could also be some form of energy released by an alien space ship silently monitoring the J-10 in the background.
