i cant tell which engine it is from this angle.
also, ten is a bit too many for preproduction bbatch. which would suggest such batch already flew. but if so, how did they label it? arent stuff like 0-01 or 0-06 reserved for prototypes?

... again the Russian AL-31FN even if I expect them to be from the latest series III batch delivered with a slightly higher thrust.

No suprise they could easily build 25-30 for J10A per year so for J10B a similar number is expected

they can actually build 50 a year no problem, but depending on the resources and supply of engine, that almost never happens.

Simply since the AL-31FN is the only type that fits the J-10 and the latest batch ordered were series III engines.

Externally they do not differ (at least not that I know).

I thought the difference is the position of the gear box relative to the engine used for the J-11s and flankers.

Yes, but the version for the J-10 was always a "FN" ... whereas the Flankers were/are powered by the regular AL-31F.

Tphuang, what are your thoughts on the projected number of J-10Bs intended for People's Liberation Army Air Force?

well, not sure about just B itself, but J-10 from this point on should have at least 5 years of production 2014-2018) before J-20 starts mass production. If they build an average of 35 a year, that would point to a production run of 165. After which point, it may decline to a regiment a year. At some point, they will move to J-10C. I'm guessing 5 to 6 regiments is probably reasonable number.
