Are we able to determine from Israeli casualty numbers how many were civilians, soldiers, illegal settlers and current/former conscripts?

It doesn't matter, whenever Israel attacks, there is no news, when Palestinians react, it's a big news. That's how the free and fair media operates. Same how every day they twist and conjure negative news on China. Their populations are being trained to hate Palestinians for decades and they're using similar playbook to make China as the next generational enemy of the West after USSR/commies and Muslims.

You need to conjure a threat so tom dick and harry are happy to part with their taxes for MIC.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened Israel's security cabinet on Saturday afternoon, saying in the meeting that "As of this morning, Israel is in a state of war." Netanyahu added that the military's first objective is to purge all southern communities of terrorists who had infiltrated them and to "restore security and peace in all communities that suffered the attack."

Netanyahu added that the military's second objective is to "make the enemy pay a tremendous price," and the third to secure other potentially violent arenas "so no one else will think about joining this war."

"In a time of war, we all need to stay calm. I call all Israel citizens to unite, so we can accomplish our objective - winning this war," he said.

This isn’t a war, the Palestinians cannot win this, it’s all about doing as much damage and causing as much pain as possible to the Israelis before they are defeated and killed.

I think the Palestinians knows this deal, and went in with clear eyes about the final outcome. This is why they won’t behave like a conventional military and try to hold ground and consolidate their gains. I don’t think they will even try to take back any of the heavy armour they have captured and will just torch them all on the spot, or drive them forwards to help push deeper into Israel.

We are looking at the Tet Offensive 2.0 in real time. Catch them unawares and inflict a psychological defeat while maximizing as much media coverage as possible. The goal here is to convince Israel and her backers that only a two-state solution will guarantee Israeli peace

Sounds like ethnic cleansing to me. Where are the Xinjiang genocide accusers? How could you equate learning Xi Jinping thoughts, which is a treatment Black Rock upper managers also enjoy, to being killed or maimed by bombs, missiles, and bullets?

Well, that’s the problem with Israel’s policy of mandatory military service for all. They made every civilian capable of picking up a weapon and becoming a soldier, so it’s hardly surprising Hamas would treat every Israeli civilian as a possible threat.

While it bothers me to see unarmed Israeli civilians gunned down in the streets, often there are dead fighters right beside them also in civilian dress, but with weapons and sometimes also body armour.

Not saying killing unarmed civilians is ever justifiable, but the Israeli government bares its share of responsibility for needlessly blurring the lines between civilians and combatants with their needless continuation of a policy that has not been needed for decades.

Without mandatory military service and arming of illegal settlers, the killing of civilians would have been much more clear cut as utterly wrong and without justification, and maybe just maybe, the Hamas gunmen might have been a little less trigger happy and took more prisoner instead of shooting people in the streets.
