A Hamas-Israel conflict by itself simply doesn't have the scale to siphon significant resources from the US.
What it could do, however, is provide the necessary distraction for the US to exit Ukraine, which would be good for Russia, but not so good for China.
If they get that far... The last incursion into Gaza in 2021 didn't work well at all.
You're not thinking further than 1 step. If Russia is running around causing further havoc while US has to deal with some jihadist uprising, it naturally means the next flashpoint isn't far off.
Bottom line is, China is not going to let US actually amass forces to threaten China itself.

Everything they have been dreaming about, will be gone in next 20 hours. Yes it will be a bit difficult for gazans, but they are accustomed to that. As for war with China, US will NEVER EVER EVER will fight a front war with China. That's my opinion. Feel free to disagree.
This statement from Zelensky, trying to link Russia and Hamas, might lend credence to the suggestions above that there is a possibility of the US diverting attention back to West Asia. it implies that Zelensky and his associates may already fear that is what will occur and is trying to remain in the spotlight by urging action on both fronts. The US becoming overstretched is becoming more likely, especially if China ramps up the pressure in its coastal seas now.
