Why did Qing/Republic of China just take it from behind when the Imperialist powers invaded?
I mean the short answer is that they didn't, they fought them in several large scale wars with mixed results. In the end, the only country to keep a gain from China was Russia and arguably USA if you consider South Korea as rightfully Chinese. While China gained the Formosa island fighting the European powers. These were all big wars with 10 000s dead on each side, which is more than can be said for any Arab leader in the modern era.
Arabs or semites in general are just culturally unsuitable to defend themselves. The best Arab armies by far are ones styled like guerilla/maoist forces, because their institutional thinking isn't based on semitic culture but on imported principles.
Middle eastern armies are basically undisciplined hordes that instantly fold when under fire, reliant on flashy imported toys. Suitable to attack civilians or carry out internal policing only. In such an environment, nobody wants to commit an open war, so they keep sponsoring terrorism on eachother.
The only army that can instigate a real fight is Hezbollah. Or maybe Iran since they have their own MIC, but they don't really fight openly themselves so far.
