The primary failure isn't of intelligence, it's a failure of imagination. It was simply inconceivable to Israel that Gazans could plan and execute an attack of this sophistication against them. When someone is that blinded by their arrogance and sense of superiority, it doesn't matter how much evidence you put in front of them, none of it will register.

Incidentally, it's the same arrogance and sense of superiority that makes losing a high-intensity war with China in the western Pacific inconceivable to America, and why we see "scenarios" like the million man swim to Taiwan and other ludicrous fantasies from people who are supposedly paid to know better.
It seems to me that Israel was using it's past reputation to deter any attacks. Their performance in the Six Day war and the Yom Kippur war was enough to deter the Arabs for 50 years, but recent events have shattered their reputation of invincibility.
Furthermore, it's unlikely any Arab state "wants" to work with Israel, it's just that they feel they have no other choice. Regardless of Hamas's further performance, the damage is done: it is very unlikely the Arabs will reconcile with Israel if they believe they have any chance of defeating the state instead.

The use of JDAM bombs by Israeli F-16 aircraft in the Gaza Strip. The Israel Defense Forces declared the Gaza Strip a closed military zone and began striking Hamas units and the Islamic Jihad group in the Gaza Strip. The video shows a US-made Israeli F-16I aircraft preparing for takeoff, with JDAMs mounted on the aircraft. After being dropped, the bomb opens its wings and flies towards the target. According to the latest data, the Israeli Army hit 10 Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, including the Hamas intelligence headquarters. The UN said that more than twenty thousand residents of the Gaza Strip were forced to leave their homes.

The Israel Defense Forces began to carry out general mobilization and form armored strike groups. The video shows the transfer of military equipment, Israeli M113 armored personnel carriers, 155-mm M109A5 self-propelled guns, American-made HMMWV armored vehicles and Israeli-made Merkava Mark 4 tanks. According to the latest data, the evacuation of the population from the northern regions of Israel bordering Lebanon has begun. The Israeli leadership also turned to the United States for help.

Israel's permanent representative to the UN said there would be no negotiations with Hamas. The goal is the complete destruction of the group.

Edit- addendum

"The era of talking to these savages is over. The time has come to destroy the Hamas terrorist infrastructure, completely erase it, so that such horrors will not happen again," he said.

90% of the post here reeks of extreme ignorance when trying to draw conclusions between israel/Palestine vs China + Uyghers.
The dynamics are not even in the same universe.
The historical implications and complexitties of Judaism and Islam is not even anywhere close to modern say China vs the Uyghers.
For one there is no AL Aqsa mosque. Secondly Taoism, Buddhism, Atheism etc. doesn't have much historical contentions as say between Islam and Judaism.
Thirdly the political boundaries and the state of Israel, Gaza and WB wasn't carved out by some 3rd party just a few de ades ago.
I'm not here to chastise which side is 'more wrong' or nir take sides on the dynamics of this particular event, rather to express my dissapointment to those who would make parallelism between this issue vs the Uyghur issues in China and somehow make conclusions and draw resolution to this.
