If the report is true Iran just splurged 140! mrbm on this one, that has to be a chunk of their stockpile
Do you know what weapons Israel has that can strike Iran? I know they have Jericho 3, but my understanding is that is for nuclear weapons and likely not produced in large quantities. Do they have cruise missiles or other ballistic missiles? Outside of that, I don't believe Israeli fighter aircraft have the range to reach Iran.
And current strikes proves that Israel Iran dome air defense system is not that efficient against BMs.
This was an extremely brave and aggressive attack in any event. It paid off by showing Israeli vulnerability and exposing myth of Israeli ABM shield. Remember some were concerned that Iran was scared to attack in case nothing went through?
So far 150 ballistic- and cruisemissiles have been fired.
At the lowest credible estimate, this is just 1% of their total missile arsenal.

They have range to reach even the eastern borders of Iran via American tankers in the Persian Gulf and Iraq.
Iron dome is designed specifically to stop hamas rockets, if 40k USD interceptor can stop BM then all MIC in the world can die in shame. They do have appropriate systems for BM but those are much more limited in numbers
It never was designed for ballistic missiles, just artillery and rocket artillery with an added capability against airbreathing targets.
It won't intercept Fatehs, Zelzals or even the Nazeats.
