Hezbollah doesn't, however, have the land advantage that Hamas has. Southern Lebanon isn't a concrete jungle like Gaza; sparsely populated, lot of open area for maneuvering.

Israel, in the meanwhile, is running out of money. The port in the Red Sea is dead due to Houthi. 300K reservists means civilian economy is at a standstill. 90K people evacuated from the war zone has to be taken cared of. The usual reliable source, US, is in budget battle. The US naval forces operating in the Red Sea does not even have an operating budget due to the funding freeze. Money had to be appropriated from any and all sources such as training. This is what Scott Ritter claims.

Hezbollah, at least, has a secured supply source and firm support from Iran.

It doesn’t add anything to the discussion. It doesn’t contain commentary. It’s not a significant person. It’s not a video showing tactics, or evidence of use of a particular kind of weapon.

There’s a time for appreciating the real consequences of war, particularly in war forums where people often advocate for certain measures, but in this instance, in this community, I don’t think there’s much controversy about the degree of Israel’s brutality.

It’s preaching to the choir, but instead of a sermon it’s a dead cat.

Unfortunately, this tweet about the death of a cat got 300% more views than other tweets about the death of children. If you follow the news, the West really likes to cover stories about saving dogs or cats in disaster relief. I can say that this story about Gaza captures the West's preferences.

Lieutenant General
I would assert that the IDF needs to resolve the northern border problem now that it is mobilized, everyone knows that Hezbollah is far superior to Hamas, if Hamas did what they did to the IDF, imagine what Hezbollah would do to the IDF in a asymmetric conflict?

In fact, Israel cannot do anything alone against Hezbollah, they will need American support, whether with warplanes in the air or boots on the ground on the ground, the Americans would also have to support Israel by attacking and suppressing the logistics corridor from Iran/Iraq/Syria/Lebanon to Hezbollah, which makes the American presence in Iraq and Syria an obligation, this attack against them in Jordan fit like a glove to allow this mandatory deployment in the Middle East, more precisely in Iraq and Syria. It may even be that the American response that is in an advanced planning stage is in fact to support Israel by cutting off this logistical corridor from Iran to Lebanon for Hezbollah to allow for greater IDF action in southern Lebanon.

In my opinion, Netanyahu needs to extend the war as far as possible to avoid being arrested, in addition to reducing the threat that looms over Israel in the north of the country, throwing Hezbollah beyond the Litani River, which would bring a greater security blanket to Israel . The USA here cannot do anything about this, because Netanuahy seems very out of control in relation to Biden, in which the American president is obliged to endorse everything Israel does.

Furthermore, a very strong reason for them can be evidenced that the IDF Deterrence was extremely harmed by this Hamas attack, which made it apparent how weak and very propagandistic the IDF is.

Israel's defensive strategy is based on 4 pillars:
A - Deterrence
B - Early warning
C - Active defense
D - Decisive victory.
“Deterrence” and “Early Warning” failed, the head of the Shin Bet himself took responsibility, but the other pillars are put into operation to mitigate collateral damage. Of all, “Decisive Victory” is the most dramatic for the attacker, if “Deterrence” fails. Israel may have no choice but to regain this Deterrence by expelling Hezbollah beyond the Litani River.

I think you may be giving Netanyahu and his genocidal war cabinet too much credit and strategic acumen. If Israel does pivot to Lebanon, I think the following line of ‘reasoning’ is far more likely to have been the ‘thinking’ behind it.

Que Yes Prime Minister intro soundtrack:

Netanyahu (N): We are loosing the fight in Gaza! The most powerful military in the region, with the best tech and most armour, more troops and total mastery of the skies, loosing against sandal wearing guys with homemade RPGs! Our reputation is in tatters and our ability to deter aggression from our neighbours is at risk! Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t demote you all down to privates and send you to the front instead?!

Generals (G): It’s not our ffffault! We inherited a mess from the last administration! After Hezbollah give us a bloody nose last time we went into Lebanon, the ground force has been totally re-designed to fight Hezbollah, not Hamas. The problem with fighting Hamas is they are too poor that they don’t have any heavy weapons or armour or anything of value for your air power and artillery to hit!

N: So we would do much better if the fight was against Hezbollah instead of Hamas?

G: Absolutely! We would have crushed them to dust with all the improvements and investments we made!

N: Ok, we invade Lebanon and put up a good show to prove to our neighbours and the world the IDF is still boss.

G: But but but!

N: Meat armour for tanks in Gaza!

G: We begin at once!

Israel troops to ‘go into action’ soon at Lebanon border: minister

will “very soon go into action” near the country’s northern border with Lebanon, Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said Monday, as tensions surge amid the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.

Gallant told troops near the border with the besieged Gaza Strip that others were being deployed to Israel’s north.

“They will very soon go into action… so the forces in the north are reinforced,” Gallant said, according to video released by his office.

He added that reservists would be gradually released “to prepare and come ready” for future operations.

Since the outbreak of war between Hamas and Israel on October 7, the Lebanese-Israeli border has seen near-daily exchanges of fire between the Israeli army and Lebanon’s Iran-backed Hezbollah movement, a Hamas ally.

Hezbollah on Monday claimed responsibility for 10 attacks on Israeli army positions near the border, using Iranian-made Falaq-1 rockets.

Israel has not reported any strikes on military sites in the north.

Israel’s army chief Herzi Halevi said earlier this month that the likelihood of war on the northern border has become “much higher”.

“I don’t know when the war in the north is, I can tell you that the likelihood of it happening in the coming months is much higher than it was in the past,” Halevi said.

members, have been killed in south Lebanon by Israeli fire since October 7, according to an AFP tally.

On the Israeli side of the border, nine soldiers and six civilians have been killed, according to Israeli officials.

Gallant said Monday that Gaza militants were running out of supplies and ammunition, but the war against Hamas “will take months”.
