I'm sorry but the SU34 is one ugly aircraft
Actually, I do not agree.

it has a style all its own with the side by side seating and more cockpit area behind the pilots for very long missions.

And it retains most all of its capabilities as a fighter (like the F-15E) in case it needs to defend itself in air-2-air.

It is the Russian modern Strike Aircraft and will replace all of the SU-24s. It has great sensors. Great range. And can carry a LOT of ordinance.

Great long range aircraft with crew comforts. The crew members have room to stand and move about the cabin during long missions. The space between the seats allows them to lie down in the corridor, if necessary. A galley and toilet are located behind the crew seats.

I imagine there may be room for a bottle of Vodka, or maybe red wine. Doubt it, the wine that is…

This news has just started making the rounds. If true it would allow Russia to bring in additional aircraft and increase the strike tempo:

Russia is preparing to expand its military operations in Syria by opening a second airbase and sending more warplanes along with additional troops to support and protect them.

The al-Shayrat airbase, near the central Syrian city of Homs, is already home to Russian attack helicopters and a team who appear to be further preparing the facility; they arrived “about a month ago and brought in new equipment”, a local activist told The Times.

Looks a little better from that angle but from the side not so much

Actually not Mirage I was corrected on that before. the only space is the latter well for entry into the cockpit, No Toilet no Galley. just a latter well. I Wiki source's the Claim to Gordon, Yefim (1999). Sukhoi Su-27 Flanker: Air Superiority Fighter. London: Airlife Publishing. I think he was writing based some confusion of the SU34 and the Tu160 which have similar cockpit layouts but the Blackjack has all the Amenities.

I think what the Russians desperately needs right now are AWACS and other airborne specialist monitoring and intelligence gathering aircraft, to both co-ordinate their efforts, and also better monitor the battlespace for both air and land bound activity.

Russia basically could very happily use the entire Chinese "High New" series range of aircraft over Syria supporting their combat operations.

I think that if the French and Russians manage to get a UN resolution passed to authorise foreign military intervention in Syria, China may just be onboard with providing that.

Getting directly involved in the fighting may be too much for China to be comfortable with, but Beijing could probably stretch to providing non-lethal support for an old buddy like Russia, especially as doing so will give them a ring side seat to seeing how NATO and Russia operates in a real war and field test their new intelligence gathering and C&C assets.
