ISIS/ISIL conflict in Syria/Iraq (No OpEd, No Politics)

Maybe, 24 hrs Redundant Layered Drones Patrol will take care of that ?
If Syria did ask for China help, then China can supply their drones ( many CH-3 and CH-5 ) UAV to patrol all ISIS territory watching for unusual ground movements.

CH-3 and CH-5 drones for the highest layer patrol.
Cheap Hexa Copter smaller drones for the lower layer.
And, definitely share all the incoming ground data directly with Russian and Syrian Forces.

Let's see if ISIS & Uighur terrorists can handle these 24 hours day and
night * IoT M2M patrol.

But, I am no expert -- please feel free to correct me.

China and US have overlapping interests in the Middle East, so I don't see Beijing working against Washington in Syria. That isn't because Xi loves Obama, but because their national interests align. China might provide symbolic support for Putin, and I'm not convinced of even that much, but there will probably be no material or political support beyond that.

I'm sure Netanyahu was told when he was in Moscow a few days ago that Al Qaeda will be cleaned from Golan and that Israeli interference would not be accepted.
Would be interesting.... Except all the Russian Strikes were on the other side of the country near the sea not the Golan.
Any way the strikes have started a reaction.

Katibat al Tawhid wal Jihad (KTJ), a mainly Uzbek group that

on September 29, has claimed responsibility for an attack on the “Russian infidels” in the Latakia province. The claim could not be independently verified.

In a statement released on its official website, KTJ claims that its “rocket attacks” caused “serious damage” to Bashar al Assad’s regime and the “Russian infidels” at the Hamim military airbase. KTJ’s statement says the rockets were launched by the “jihadist unity in northwest Syria,” a reference to its formal merger with Al Nusrah, and that the “mujahideen” had carried out “several attacks” on the airbase with Grad rockets in the past.

In mid-September, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR)

Al Nusrah Front is al Qaeda’s official branch in Syria. When KTJ announced its bayat (allegiance) to Al Nusrah on September 29, it specifically noted that Al Nusrah “is operating as al Qaeda’s wing in Syria.” It was important to unite against the “Safavid [Iranian]-American-Russian alliance against Muslims,” KTJ stated. However, KTJ had long fought side-by-side with Al Nusrah and other al Qaeda-linked groups against the Assad regime.

KTJ posted the generic photo shown above along with its claim of responsibility for the rocket attack on Russian forces. The al Qaeda brigade did not provide any additional details, saying simply that “local sources” had supposedly corroborated the damage done.

Don't be quick to dismiss as the Russians are using there Syrian bases to launch the strikes that means they are inside Syria proper unlike US, NATO and Israel who launch there strikes from out of the combat zone.

Photo from a Katibat al Tawhid wal Jihad training camp in northern Syria

Katibat al Tawhid wal Jihad (KTJ), a largely Uzbek group operating in northern Syria, released a statement on its official website yesterday in which it pledged bayah (allegiance) to Al Nusrah Front, al Qaeda’s official branch in the country.

KTJ’s statement reads: “To win in this global battle against Islam, we need to combine the strength and support. For this purpose, Katibat al Tawhid wal Jihad, in our current activities in Syria, has pledged allegiance to Al Qaeda’s wing in Syria. This allegiance was announced on Tuesday, September 29, 2015.” KTJ also blames the United States and Russia for waging a so-called “global battle against Islam.”

KTJ was led by an Uzbek named Abu Saloh and was largely comprised of Uzbeks and other Central Asians. It likely had native Syrians within its ranks as well. The group was always under al Qaeda’s influence in Syria, as demonstrated by its propaganda and its battlefield presence. Abdullah al Muhaysini, who is a pro-al Qaeda cleric at a minimum,

Its areas of operation include both the Aleppo and Idlib provinces. During the Jisr al Shughur offensive in Idlib earlier this year, KTJ

The pledge of allegiance comes one week after Jaish al Muhajireen wal Ansar (JMWA), a group comprised mainly of foreign fighters,

in September 2014. At the time, State described it as “a Chechen-led terrorist organization based in Syria that consists primarily of foreign fighters.” However, Salahuddin Shishani, JMWA’s Chechen leader, and his deputy were removed from their posts. Shishani went on to

in Syria, swearing allegiance to the emir of ICE. JMWA was briefly led by a Tajik fighter before a Saudi took over as the group’s emir.

The recent pledges of allegiance to Al Nusrah come at a time when al Qaeda is likely reorganizing and boosting its footprint in Aleppo province, where both KTJ and JMWA have a heavy presence. As such, the ranks of Al Nusrah continue to swell with foreign fighters.

China has no interest in Syria becoming a failed state.

A few years ago a South African businessman had trouble getting a visa for US because twenty years before he had fought as a member of ANC against the US friendly South African Apartheid regime and was therefore registered as a terrorist. Now US decide that Al Qaeda fighters aren't terrorists because they fight against a government US want to destroy.

Quite clearly it is necessary to destroy all terrorists organizations in Syria, including those trained and paid by US.

a internationally recognized Shia Islamist terror group?
Lets be blunt The Russian Aim is to support Assad, To back him and his Regime as well as those that back him it's a matter of convenience to tag the term terrorist on to any group who wishes to rebel against Assad.

Just to be clear.
The Russian Airstrikes are not pinpricks designed to eliminate local commanders or high profile Western Jihadis. The Russian airstrikes are co-ordinated operations with Syrian ground forces, so wherever the Syrian army is engaged, this is where you will find the Russian Airforce.

There are two pretty obvious immediate objectives.
1) Close operational pockets of resistance within government controlled territory and expand into peripheral rebel areas north and South to minimise the total length of front line and free up the manpower of the Syrian Army.

2) Remove any group in which the US has a material interest, thus both removing the US as a significant player and ensuring that "The transition" becomes an eternal process due to a lack of credible alternative.

I also read a very sensible opinion on the Saker this morning, which stated that a few Russian aircraft will probably have a limited effect on the ground, but would be "credited" for every advance that the Syrian Army makes, thus making the perfect cover for Russia to bus in large numbers of Hezbollah and Iranian fighters to make the difference on the ground.

The French minister of defense pretty much said the same thing.

And having watched the video of the bombing by the Russian Air Force, that is the only thing that makes sense. Because otherwise I can't figure what use it would be sending bomber pilots who can't seem to hit the broad side of a barn.

Must say I'm not impressed with their bombing gun camera footage. The bombs didn't really come close if they were aiming for what the curser was pointing at.

If that was the pick of the litter from their 20 bombing runs, the Russians needs Chinese direct military support more than I first thought.
