ISIS/ISIL conflict in Syria/Iraq (No OpEd, No Politics)

I think Kurz views the situation from the perspective of a realist rather than ideologue which I commend, but it was the articles wrap up and quotes from this character that really caught my attention. To say I believe his comments to be misleading would be an understatement... A little research confirmed my opinions of him and his agenda. My real question is why would they include this type of person in any reputable report?

(I won't include all of the sources I found as wiki provides a reasonable summary):

This entire conflict and the one going on in Yemen is a continuation of the Sunni-Shia rivalry. I could understand the policy of arming Saudi and other Sunni factions as a hedge against Iran and it's Shia base up until 2001. But I think that support went overboard as we are now seeing. The Saudi's played their hand very well and are now pushing the advantage versus Shia's in direct conflict.

The time to re-balance, and justly so, would have been after 9/11 (in place of Iraq) but that would have been a major course change conflicting with some other interests... Alas the road not taken...

Better late than never! Well, better before someone pulls off another 9/11.

Apparently Russia has finally decided to join the action:

The British and Americans seems to think Russia fighting ISIS is a bad thing. Rather than welcome a new ally in the fight against these savages, they all but condemn the alleged Russian involvement.

However, the Russian moves that so concerned them is actually pretty standard looking, since they just move some additional assets and security personnel to their existing naval base.

I don't think any country would not have beefed up security if they also had bases in Syria with what is going on over there.

If that is the reaction to what looks like standard and fully understandable deployments by the Russians, one has to wonder what kind of unholy stink the British and Americans would kick up if the Russians actually got fully engaged in the fighting.

Would they have the bare cheek to call Russian air strikes against ISIS "unhelpful" or worse at the same time as they petition their allies to get more involved in the fight and hector them for not doing enough?!
