Political discussions would be nice and it would really speed up the forum but then again that would go against some of the principles we want to uphold. I guess that is what makes is slower and different from many other forums.

It's the same on all the other forums, anyway it's called life people change but me I'm always looking for news about China's military so I'm here and also elsewhere.

I dug this thread up because I think that there's been a lack of serious, military oriented, quality discussion on this forum lately. I miss the good old days, when some of the best members this site has had wowed me daily with their trenchant analysis of global events, and open, honest discussion of military strategy and hardware. When it came to politics (as it inevitably does, as Clausewitz said, "War is an extension of politics by other means"), discussion between the higher ranking members was intellectually honest.

I don't know what needs to be done to get back some of the things I feel SDF has lost. Maybe its good enough to remind everybody.

^^ Finn, right now we are getting a great number of post..many more than when I started this thread. At that time I thought the forum would fade into the neitherland of the internet. But you are correct the tone of the discussion is less military. Honestly as long as members are posting within the parameters of the rules I'm pleased with that.

I'm sort of angered on how behind the sinodefence page is on its data, or lack of data on Chinese military matters. It has less data than before. The numbers on its inventory and fighting force is outdated. They should at least let some of the well informed or knowledge moderators have access to update the page. If he doesn't have time maybe the moderators can write it up, and send it to the owner of the site for checking and reading and then post it up.

Side note. The old sinodefence had more of a neutral judgment and analysis on Chinese military matters. But some of the content sound like...not as well written as the previous version

The man who started sinodefence.com dropped off the Earth some time ago. Since he still owns the rights to it, there isn't much that can be done about updating the site until his rights expire.

sinodefenceforum.com is owned by a entirely different entity.

A lot of the contributors may not use English as their primary language. Some of the articles may have unusual sentence structure or seem immature, but that is more likely due to translation and proficiency issues, not intellectual short-comings.

I keep coming back to this site only for the forums. The Updates though seems to be once per year now. Maybe dong feng is in jail for leaking state secrets?

My last contact with him was last December, which I transferred some of the Taskforce 529 open house pics to him.
