Agree. I watched quite a few documentaries about the fall of the shah. It seems he was a rather tame dictator compared to his more ruthless peers in the Middle East and even compared to his successors now in Tehran. He didn’t really fight as one would have expected for a dictator to crush his opponents or critics of his regime when the protests erupted. Had he been like the mullahs or even Assad in Syria they would have rather destroyed the whole country than leave/lost power just like that. On that aspect I have to give him my respect. It‘s no secret that the regime in insanely unpopular within Iran. It‘s just that Shah wasn‘t as murderous as the Mullah and didn‘t go as far to stop the rebellion but there‘s no limit that Mullahs won‘t cross to crush rebellions which happened multiple times with the latest happening in 2022. I think the only way the Mullah regime would fall is if the military rebels from inside or thanks to American bombs which won‘t be good for general population.
Anyway, the mullah actually learned a lot from his fall, reason they formed the IRGC and basing militias who are loyal to the regime and beholden to the Ayatollahs only. They don’t trust the regular army or police . So I understand any sort of uprising will keep getting crushed by these elements like the recent past ones . So yeah an uprising like the one that toppled the shah can keep happening in Iran but I don’t think it will be successful , the regime is more determined to hang into to power than the shah.
