arrested? they must've used a lot of fake $50 bills at once? otherwise any innocent dude can end up with a fake bill unintentionally...
once a mcdonald's cashier told me that my $10 bill was fake... which was not, it was an older edition that didnt have the line of silver markings. i think cashiers should be trained to handle these situations better.
speaking of which, when my family exchanged some yuan for canadian dollars in Hongkong back in 2004, the HSBC there gave us $1000 bills. When we tried to deposit them at our bank, those tellers had to search for their ultimate canadian bill book to check and make sure those bills were legit. apparently they had never seen those bills before
That is so true, when we first immigrated to Canada, my dad purposely got $1000 bill, since in HK it is a denomination that used quite a bit. Cashier rejected to accept $1000 since they never saw it and that was back in 93

Oh I'm pretty sure this is genuine..
Police got involved and apparently at least one of the attackers were arrested
There's a following on reddit too (as you'd expect)
Some/all of the attackers supposed identities are up on the youtube video's description, with addresses, phone numbers etc.

I thought the video looked too perfect in the sense that it lacked temp out of focus shots or any jerkiness.
Apparently there were ASians in the seven involved in the attack so I guess it wasnt racially motivated.

Whatever the motivation, those seven idiots will now face the consequences and public hate from people they know now that this thing's gone viral.
It doesn't seem like a simple robbery, and prolly no simply race hate either. Could be culturally motivated as the guy was apparently FOB.
