Youtuber Oxide apparently did a test on the PLA Type-15 standard issue plate he got his hands on in January, doesn't seem very impressed.

He's likely gonna release more detailed test data on this spreadsheet later on, which already incudes the results of NATO / Russian equivalents he previously tested. (Oxide does seem to have very high standards based on previous reviews, but he is probably one of the most unbiased reviewers available on the internet)

The results will be interesting to see since we have seen Chinese plates in Ukraine used by both sides working well. I'll be intrigued if it doesn't meet the standards for NIJ IIIA. Of course, this is all based on the assumption that the plates aren't expired, exposed to the Sun for too long, and, most importantly, are real.

I wouldn't really doubt the authenticity of the plate being used by Oxide, since he's tested some rare pieces of gear before and this seems to have been supplied by an actual Chinese fan. He has also previously given some pretty positive / honest reviews on commercial Chinese plates (UTA to be exact), so I'd probably trust whatever he says.

Oxide has also received a Type-15 flak vest alongside the standard plates (based on pics from January), which were both designed and commissioned in the same era (early-mid 2010s). So he should have the full set (soft armor + plate) available for testing / retesting

We’ll have to wait and see. Personally, I am inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt given his proven past. However China is a different beast altogether when compared to Russia. Nonetheless, I’m excited to see the results and how he conducted the tests.

Do you think these Chinese fans know he serves in the US military as a warrant officer and wants to test these Chinese plates in order to find ways to defeat them, to more easily defeat the PLA and China? What they did would basically be treason anywhere else in the world...

Like do you think Oxide is trading some of the latest helmets and plates for these? no.

It’s a ballistic plate man, the CIA has other sources I’m sure.

My point of criticism is, why would you aid a nation and someone in that nation's military who has expressed more than enough times they see you as their greatest enemy and really really wants to have a quick cold to hot war? It's just so pathetic and/or naive. It's one thing if he bought it off Taobao, at least it was a transaction, but given?
