Infantry Combat Equipment (non-firearm): Vests, Body Armor, NVGs, etc.

Seen this video on twitter of Marines doing night training. Interesting NVG's with white phosphor tubes. What really caught my eye was the scene showing a thermal image. From my layman's perspective it appears that these are fusion NVG as the UI is identical to those found on the Jerry-F and Jerry-FB NVG's. I understand that this could be a generic UI and may not indicate much but it's still quite interesting. Can someone explain why they're wearing GK80 steel helmets with new camo cover.

Unfortunately, given the limited defense budget of the PLA, you will likely see GK80, infantries without proper body armor, and 7.62x39 calibre rifles well into the 2030s. This is because most of the money will likely go into game changing platforms like new drones, communication, armor vehicles, SATCOM, etc. Thus, second line troops and militias will likely to continue using completely outdated equipment.

Because they are Chinese Navy sailors. Naval personnel (outside the Marines) are not prioritized for the latest infantry gear for obvious reasons.

Definitely looked like Jerry-FB from the footage which would fit with PLAN procurements for special mission units. No surprise considering the priority for Marine units to be the tip of the spear in the advent of an active Pacific Theater.

A more detailed look at the standard issue PAP ballistic vest, which should be similar (if not identical) to the standard vests used by the other service branches.
