In a system like PLA, you probably can't just go to you local Clothing & Sales and get the latest issue. Everything has to be done at the unit (regimental or brigade) level.Old camo slowly but surely getting phased out. I hope the guy still wearing 07 Aquaflague isn't trying to show his "salt dog" status still wearing that bullshit lol. For me personally, I would spend my own money to buy new better looking and more effective uniforms the second they go on sale than to wait for them to be issued to me.
So kinda like the Marines in the US or so I've heard?Yes and no. The PLA have an internal website where you can order additional or replacement equipment and uniforms online to pick up at the armoury/quartermasters.
similar to shopping online really
Yep. I do not believe this would be a service every serviceperson stationed at every base would have access to, but I am sure that most medium sized or major bases would have it available. So kinda like the Marines in the US or so I've heard?
virtually every advanced armed forces has something like that, its nothing special. So kinda like the Marines in the US or so I've heard?
That is the Type 13 Special Forces pattern, not the 07., with the existing Type 07 in its various colour configurations should work fine in tropical
good post.A little late, but in terms of night vision, the biggest jump is from Gen1 to Gen2+.
Gen1 is essentially useless without IR illuminator support. Useful when opfor has zero night vision, but useless if they do.
Good Gen2+ can be functional just as good or even better than low end civilian Gen3s.
Below is link with video examples of commercially available Chinese Gen2+/Gen3 tube performance. Military grade tubes should be markedly better.
The issue, as has been already pointed out by others, isn’t really a lack of technology for good Gen3 tubes, but rather lacking the funds needed to issue them en mass.
PLA special forces will have night vision right up there with the best the west has to offer, including thermal fusion.
Below is a pretty good, unbiased direct comparison between the Chinese Jerry-C and US ECOTI, where the Chinese system is objectively better.
Here is also a good piece by the same author on the digital aurora.
The performance of the Aurora itself is not really relevant, but the observations on digital vs IIT could be relevant to the new Chinese digital unit.
