PLA soldiers in new starry sky desert pattern camouflage during training.
Can you post this as well in the QBZ 191 thread.PLA soldiers in new starry sky desert pattern camouflage during training.
Any idea what the red tape is for? IFF maybe?
Probably just armoury codes.Probably not, as IFF tags are best affixed to soldiers (on upper sleeves, back of helmets, etc.) instead of their weapons. Also it looks like the red tags have something written on them. Maybe they are names of the assigned soldiers. I've seen similar (white) tags affixed to the same place on the rifles before.
Replacement for the SAW is incoming, if this is the thing...Thats a nice fusion sensor up top. The top is a night vision sensor which needs to be covered or otherwise the tube would get fried in daytime. The bottom sensor is a thermal core, which makes sense because you wouldn't be able to see anything else in the snow. The small sensor on the right is just a laser range finder, although it would be impressive if they also had a ballistic calculator and wind sensor. All in all, thats about $20K for that whole package based on the fact the NV objective lens is likely 70mm-100mm.
The bottom picture just makes me angry. Someone should have ripped the bipod off the barrel and screwed it into the main body so it doesn't put extra forces on the barrel and impact accuracy. Even in that shooting position, the way he is holding the bipod imparts a downward force on the barrel. Somehow I think that photo is just for show, I would just shoot with the bipod hanging so its a static hanging force vs having my hand grip and impart additional force. The PLA knows this, which is why all new rifles (not just DMRs) have free floated barrels. Gahhhhh.
