Makes sense. India is a big and cheap country. Perfect for offshoring cheap supplies.
I suspect the recent involvement of the private sector into the defense industry has been a driver of the growth.

Being a munition supplier to Israel is probably also a major contributing factor.

this is just the first image ran through AI sharpen isnt it?

this one actually looks like a different shot with different lighting. the tail slab shape is better described in this one. looks similar to mockup from aeroindia2025 and not like the convex double delta shape usually seen in the concept art.

Can’t tell if it is elevated off the ground. Usually it needs a pretty big clearance to properly test the RCS.
look at the shadow separation from deino's initial posting. that's a fair amount of ground clearance, at least more than you'd get if it was sitting on its landing gear.

Missiles make up the largest share of India's defense exports.

Yeah i thought so too, the clearer images look odd (plane looks single engine, the tails look mismatched etc.) so likely AI.

Well, good luck to Airbus. There were many examples of foreign investors panelized by the Indian government. They would never have a penny of profit taken out of India and lost all their investments. BTW, how many percent of materials, components, technology, and etc. for the 'Make-In-India' slogan? I think using "Assembled in India" is more appropriate.
