Main Battle Tank (MBT) for the joint development of the future Indian Army’s MBT.

On June 1, 2022, the Indian Ministry of Defense released an RFI (Request for Information) to procure over 1,700 Future Ready Combat Vehicles (FRCVs) in a phased manner under the strategic partnership route, with the induction of the “future tank” expected to be completed by 2030.

According to the Indian RFI, the procurement of the new Indian-made MBT will include the transfer of technology, performance-based logistics, engineering support package, and other maintenance and training requirements. The goal of the new procurement is to replace the old fleet of Soviet-design

Rumour that IAF will order an additional 50 LCA Mk. 1A, adding to the 83 aircraft already on order.

Battling its notorious and long-spiralling depletion in fighter aircraft squadron strength, the Indian Air Force is is believed to have firmed up plans to order at least 50 more LCA Tejas Mk1A jets from Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. These would be in addition to 83 Mk1A jets currently on order as part of $6.5 billion contract signed in February 2021.

Given budgetary constraints, it’s unclear if the IAF will commit to the 50 additional LCA Mk1As before most of the 83 from the original 2021 contract are delivered. The IAF has been in extended discussions with the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA — the agency effecting the Mk1A improvements) and HAL on the planned additional order. HAL hopes to close a deal for 50 more Mk1As by 2024-25, though there remains little clarity on when that will happen. The original contract for 83 Mk1A jets took eight years to come to fruition.

Ordering more aircraft that actually exist (well, close enough) rather than relying on paper projects or foreign wunderbar machines is assuredly a good thing, but this also probably says something about the timeline for LCA Mk. 2. Per ADA head:

The more capable indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA)-Mk2 is expected to be ready for production by 2027 while the fifth generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) is awaiting approval from the Cabinet Committee on Security and the development would take 10 years after that, said Director General of Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) Girish S. Deodhare on Tuesday.

"Ready for production" in 2027 certainly does not mean "in service" in 2027. Rather it would seem to imply that LCA Mk. 2 will be inducted only from ~2030 onwards.

Better to have these small jets with pilots trained than losing pilots in old desintegrating mig-21 ... Keeping the industry running too. Would be better to build that naval variant just for the sake of it at this rate, they would fit the elevators and keep people trained.

You know you are responding to a blatant jai hind troll, right?
Edit: also the odds of phillippines buying from the brahmos from india is miniscule. They will either buy American or Russia missiles.
They already bought it.
Interesting question is how much Russian content is in the missiles as there is the question of sanctions.

Philippines already canceled a helicopter deal due to sanctions.
