final design is frozen.
hopefully they will show it this aero india in february 2015

I am having a hard time reconciling India's FGFA and AMCA program as it looks cannabilistic in nature for development funds between the 2 programs given the overlapping objectives of the respective programs. The AMCA program looks to be highly ambitious given the state of its aerospace development.

The Rafale negotiations with Dassault of France appear to have reached a deadlock that is as much as anyone can tell. When the deal is made the terms will probably surprise everybody. To briefly summarise, India agreed in principle to acquire 126 combat Rafale aircraft from Dassault of France, with the first 18 manufactured in France and the rest manufactured by HAL. The sticking points are price which started at $10 Billion and is now about double that, and guarantee of aircraft quality which was in the original tender. India insists that Dassault guarantee all 126 work correctly, whereas Dassault is unwilling to guarantee more than those manufactured in France. It does not even matter at this point who is right or wrong, because the stakes are high for both parties. India is sorely deficient in IAF squadrons, and Dassault is sorely deficient in international orders for the Rafale (it has none presently, and none in sight). If both parties walk away from the deal, there will be a perception that the IAF is not adequately provisioned and for Dassault it could mean the end of the Rafale.

With the AMCA, ADA is not attempting an uber fighter. But a useful one that can be completed on time.

PARIS/NEW DELHI: With the Indo-French $6 billion surface-to-air missile systems project in doldrums, France is hoping that new government's push for "Make in India" will lead to inking of the long delayed deal.

France remains hopeful of signing the deal even though Indian armed forces are sceptical about the missile since indigenously developed Akash is in play.

Titled Maitri, the project for joint development and production between India's Defence Research and Development Org ..

That chick is in much better shape than the 29s I have cell phone pix of, I really should try to post them, I doubt two of them will ever fly again, one in the hangar is kinda sorta airworthy, prolly out of annual, but it flew 4 years ago in Central Obamastan? not sure its flown since, but is on Air USAs websight if you care to look? As the article you posted noted, they are a little "rough" compared to most aircraft.

Sorry I do have difficulty associating what is in the twitt link to my previous question. Would you be kind enough to elaborate.

well,he is the author of the article. a writer for CNN IBN.
he is one of the most accurate reporters on india's indegenous industry, along with Dr. Ananthakrishnan M ,Shiv Aroor and Vishnu Som.

as for inexperince in aerospace industry ,their main trouble is engines, but the engines for the AMCA will bought from abroad,
RFP for engines will be issued somewhere around april 2015.
i hear that both GE aviation and Eurojet are interested in participating.DRDO will do the thrust working changes on the engines selected

as for AESA radar the DRDO's project UTTAM is going on well, and FOC will be in december 2015.
if things were not going on well they would have announced the buying of the Israeli ELM 2050 by now.
infact UTTAM is just one of the three projects going on.

and i beleive the indians will have help either from Russia or the West ,or maybe even both.

but in the end ,yes the the programme is very ambitious, but the prototype may fly in 2021, after all the tejas first flew in 2001
