Russia's fifth-generation Su-57E fighter jet has arrived in India to participate in the Aero India 2025 air show. The Su-57E will be showcased at the international aerospace exhibition to be held from February 10 to 14 at the Yelahanka Indian Air Force Base. India is a long-standing strategic partner that operates a significant amount of Russian equipment. Rosoboronexport will offer India the supply of Su-57s, as well as the organization of their production in India and assistance in developing its own fifth-generation fighter jet.

Just to be correct or better to say precise: it is Not a Su-57E but the well-known old T-50-4, as such in fact an old prototype

It's not the problem of human capital. This will be my first reply on this forum so forgive me if i break any rule. We have very capable people who can be roped in to work on these projects and make them succesful, but the problem is that our government is more focused on winning votes for the next election and as such spends most of its time and (nations) resources in areas where the public is interested in and will give votes seeing the performance (thats just a small percentage of our politics, many more factors are related to our election results which are far from including subects like "Aircraft research'). There is simply not much interest or necessity in the indian political circles to focus on Military stuff (we barely started focusing on civilian research).
Due to this, the government pays peanuts to the scientists and forces them to work in inefficient environments which our DPSUs are famous for. Our scientists literally work in an environent which nerfs their stats (video game language used here). So for what reason will a fresh graduate or an experienced person consider going to these research insitutions when they can have better pay grade, work load, and overall a far better working environment in private firms (even these firms are foreign in most cases, meaning they go to other countries to work). This is one of the main factors of Brain drain. There is a not so popular saying in India,

" Jab padhega India tabhi to aage badhe ga America "

, basically saying that due to brain drain, the best minds of India do not work for the advancement of India, but for the advancement of USA.
Once the government changes its attitude towards sectors like research and starts paying them high enough wages and working consitions and infrastructure to match the private and foreign cos., then only can we advance at the rate mirroring the advanced countries.
If American Indians are their best, then what is left over is worse than trash. No nicer ways to put it.
You are the crowd you hang with pretty much.

I don't think it's necessarily too late for India or her indigenous projects. But she needs to hang around a better crowd. Being with losers that take forever to build something with insane pricetag (and unable to properly afford it) will make you a loser also. Except you're gonna be even worse because you don't even have the new money inheritance that the west flounders around with.

China left the door open for India every time despite also hitting them whenever the situation calls for it. I'm cautiously optimistic that India will be more than just a slave state designated to be passed around as a colony by different powers.

I think making something with Su-57 will happen. And it will be a gateway for India to come back home in the SCO/BRICS.

From interacting with Indians, many negative stereotypes are true, but a really good thing about Indians is that they are quite able to realize when they fucked up and then accordingly readjust everything they do until they excel. We malign the H1Bs a lot, but there's a reason the subcontinent is the H1B continent and not Africa. For example.
They speak English is the reason. They are more disliked than Latin Americans otherwise.

I will put it as bluntly as possible, India today are behind 1985 China in terms of talent. The gap is rapidly widening not shrinking. Their best in the west are unfit to run a village in China.

Contrary to opinions here, Indians does not lack will, they have more than average. There is no fundamentals.
