Is India still moaning it's a superpower?

World must recognize the powafoolness of Indian men! Hindu culture being godsend for humans etc etc. Until then the world will have no respite. We are doomed to hear about how well India will perform in xyz years and how shitty everyone else is ESPECIALLY China. Tiring bottom dwellers who constantly need to drag others down to their level.

The reasons India considers itself a superpower is

1. It has 1.3 Billion people ie 1/6th of Humanity. Other mega populous nations are China and US and both are superpowers. So population= Power for them.
2. Multiple Western projections of India overtaking China, USA , Aliens by 2050. Westerners cant be wrong you know!
3. Indians (Mostly Hindus) are taught how India was a Global Power during Vedic times (1000- 500 BC). And how India invented everything ie Medicine, Astronomy , Mathematics, Language etc.

Hence they feel that India is destined to become a Global Power again and regain its lost glory.

China has x5 the gdp of India.

So for each 1% of gdp growth that China has, India needs 5% of gdp growth just to keep up with China's growth and not let the gap widen even more.

So consider these scenarios for what figures India needs in order to keep pace with China

2021 gdp growth

Scenario 1:
China gdp growth: 6%
India gdp growth: 6*5 = 30%

Scenario 2:
China gdp growth: 7%
India gdp growth: 7*5 = 35%

Scenario 3:
China gdp growth: 8%
India gdp growth: 8*5 = 40%

India is a lost cause. Unless India suddenly starts having annual >30% gdp growth, the gap between it and China will widen even more

Mission impossible for India's dreams to catch up to China

Its so funny. We don't hear about China claiming to become a superpower from their media and their government. What they mostly talk about is the rejuvenation of China. Its typically the Western politicians and academics that call China a Superpower. People like David Cameron and Martin Jacques.

Basically we can see from history, Superpowers tend to grow naturally. These are nations that started their success only by striving to improve their own lives, and eventually prosper so much that they become a Superpower. None of them had proclamations early in their history, that they are destined to become a Superpower. The American founding government, CPC, CPSU, Roman Senate, etc have never proclaimed to become a Superpower when they were not there yet. They kinda found themselves suddenly becoming one. What they do after that is history.

OTOH, its the facist nations like Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, and Facist Italy who likes to proclaim that they will become a Superpower. And it must be at the expense of other nations and peoples. India sounds awfully like them. Luckily for Asia, Indian incompetence, delusions, and lack of self improvement is preventing them from actually realizing their sick fantasy.

India's losing pattern is ironic because it chooses not to empower its common people. Or at least preserve elements of its culture that hinder this.

The rate at which India improves will be lower overall and over time than the other peers do. So the only true peer is China due to population size and overall status back in the mid 20th century.

They will continue playing this Hindu supa dupa and bestest thing until it cannot be played any more.

Reminds me of what Jayant Bhandari said and pointedly expressed 4 years ago on these interviews.

Come on. This is the same bad math people used decades ago to ‘prove’ that China could never catch up to US.

Please. I did the calculation on that post. If you agree or disagree, then you are welcome to critique the calculation. Otherwise I am not going to continue the convo.

Things are clear. If China grows 10% thats approx $1.5 trillion.

If India grows 10% thats only ~$290 billion.

I am eagerly awaiting for your own calculations

Two words: compound interest.
