A country that relies on 10 million of it's population for the 50% of its revenue is insane. Yet, we have countless people that keeps barking up the Indian economic miracle like it's arrived already. I too wants Indian economy to grow to benefit the people of that country's lives and maybe in the course of Indian economic development it's persistent insecurities against China will be lessened (perhaps a tall task) and will bring forth to India an actual confidence and not misplaced arrogance that's loudly being parroted by its media pushed and egged by the West.

2. You can take any economy and would find the same discrepancy regarding inequality. The bottom 50% of usa hold 2% of wealth. 2%( Couldn't find data regarding consumption but it can be extrapolate to an extent). What exactly are you blabbering about?
3. The household final consumption expenditure per capita of India is 4.2 k usd. Same for china is 6K usd. You can refer to world bank data for that.
4. The same aggregate data for entire country would put india at 3rd or 4th place and it's growing. Germany and Japan are more or less stagnant nominally speaking.
5. And seriously 10 million. You could have just cross checked that with other high value indicators such as car sales. It was around 4 million last year at third position, more than japan and the numbers are around 3-4 million every year since past 3-4 years. By your 10 million logic or data india should have exhausted it's car sales in around 3 years. Seen that happening?


I agree that china is in far better position than india and india prolly won't ever overtake China but geez the amount of racism that I feel in the posts in these thread is insane..

It's the other way around - posters here are simply pointing out the brutal reality of the situation - that India is roughly 50 years behind China in every aspect of development, and falling further behind everyday. Then Jai Hinds like you come in and dilute the quality of discussion by crying racism because you're offended by the sensible conclusions reached. In many ways, your behaviour is characteristic of Indian leadership. Instead of admitting inferiority, making pragmatic and resourceful decisions towards correcting that inferiority, and putting in the hard work to realize those plans, you come up with petty excuses (muh racism, muh British colonialism) and expect to transform into Superpower 2020/5 trillion dollar economy 2025 overnight because The Economist said so. As long as this is the mentality you adopt, there will be no hope and no future for your country and your people.

America is a very unequal country, I don't think I'd be too proud of drawing comparisons with them.

Indian GDP per capita is around the same as the African average, but health indicators are lower.

You are right. I do agree it’s been excessive especially recently. While it is no defense, I think I can speak for many on this forum that for years, Chinese have to deal with incessant harassment and mockery from on the internet and but the Chinese community has largely bit its tongue. SDF acts as a safe space for English speakers to be more honest with our thoughts and loose built up steam. The Chinese are stuck in a hostile world with increasingly aggressive Sinophobia often parroted by Indians more do than other peoples.
