Her concerts don't do anything for the economy

These concerts also has the effect of boosting Hong Kong's image as international city. These Singaporeans needs to be shown who is the leading city in South East Asia. She is going to make some money, but the concert will draw in fans from other countries. Also, she has the potential to become another Elon Musk, who is China friendly. There is already a lineup of concerts, by foreign performers for Hong Kong new stadium, so why not invite the most popular.

Once again, Hong Kong is a Chinese city. Respect yourself and others respect you. Yearn for the respect of others and get spat on and laughed at instead.

They can lead in foreign liberal singers. No contention there from us. We'll lead them on Chinese pride.
She is going to make some money,
Off of us.
but the concert will draw in fans from other countries.
So what? We need foreigners to feel like validated or something?

Elon Musk does cutting edge tech. She does country singing. Don't be desperate.

They vie for us. We don't vie for them.
so why not invite the most popular.
Liberal American who is anti-China. Did she ask to be here? Or are do you want to beg her to come?

How is elon musk doing cutting edge stuff, when China is leading in EV technology? Maybe China should ban tesla to begin with.

What boost? Hong Kong is already an international city. Hong Kong was already international when Singapore was just a weird place where you couldn't buy bubble gum. Singapore is the one desperately trying to boost itself to Hong Kong's level all the time. When HK got Disneyland, they needed to go get a Universal Studios to catch up. Now they are always trying to battle HK for Chinese IPOs and non-mainland HQs. This is not meant to disrespect Singapore, but the history shows that HK was the centre of the Chinese world at one point, and thus drew more international attention. Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Michelle Yeoh, they all gained fame in HK first. Michelle Yeoh makes is obvious, she is Malaysian, but had to make it big in HK first, not Singapore. This should also tell you that you don't need some stupid American pop star, there are plenty of Chinese stars.

1. He does way more cutting edge stuff than EVs; he does recoverable space launches, etc...

2. I think he actually helped spur China's EV tech. Before him, he thought China could never compete but he jump started the EV stuff in China and we beat his ass with his own arm. And he took it like a champ cus all that did was impress the hell out of him. How are we gonna benefit off of Swift? Beat her at American country music?

It's on the table if he does anything to piss us off.

He did not spur China's EV industry at all. BYD was making batteries decades ago, but tesla was depending on Panasonic batteries at the beginning.

1. I think he did through competition. We picked up right when he entered the Chinese market. He also invested more money in China than I care to even check.
2. Even if he didn't, where the hell are you going with this? I said we don't need Taylor Swift's singing crap in China and you're talking about exactly what Elon Musk did or didn't bring to China?? Of all the point-to-point arguments I made against you, look at the length of my post, this is what you choose to linger on while failing to answer everything else??
