What kind of a Chinatown is that??? If that is Chinatown, we have Chinatowns all over the place here. And what can possibly go wrong with Asian places outside Chinatown/Lil' Saigon/Lil' Tokyo/Koreatown/etc??? Even if it's all Sailormoon and Pokemon and sushi and teriyaki, they can't possibly mix up brisket and flank and sell only bok-choy...... can they?

Most of the Chinese places outside of Chinatown are suspects of "price gouging". We are not that desperate yet. If I can find little Tokyo or Kroean town in Houston, I wouldd efinitely go, but I have no idea where they are...

If I was in Texas I would probably get an AK to hunt deers.

One of my colleagues just bought an AR and looking to buy an AK, which is a lot cheaper. we are going to shoot the AR sometime in the next month. This guy has enough hardware to arm a platoon :D

you know those in those ceramic bottle things that you had to return, they had paper on top and you can actually drink them with a straw. If I get back to China in the near future, I am going to buy 5 and drink them all in one sitting.

I sure do! Man, that's, in my opinion, the best yogurt I've ever had.

A bit off topic, but is it me or do most Commonwealth cities tend to have really really bad traffic systems prone to pileups of different sorts?
I cant speak for the commomwealth but in N.Z., its not usual to have pile ups involving scores of cars /eg autobahn Germany etc .Unlike the USA ,IMO. NZ drivers are agressive and incosiderate with some unsound traffic rules, which create the problem. Actually Ive found American drivers to be the most considerate in the world, I wonder if its the fear of roadrage and you might pull out guns and start shooting one another.:D

Anyone been to Burger King, KFC, or Mcdonalds in China? What is it like? When I went back a bunch, I never saw the need to travel 10,000 miles to go to McDs. I hear they have mung bean gruel, and such.

No clue, never been to one in China.

However, when we went back to visit in 2000, we went this Chinese fast food chain with all the Chinese snack foods. What is it called? The name has something to do with soymilk, I think?

Explain more please. Talking about Chinese fast food chain, I am loving the fake western resturaunt knock-offs. If I remember right there is a California Noodle shop or some nonsense. I know there are a bunch of KFC knock-offs in Baoding.

Well, we saw this in Beijing when we went back to visit in 2000. These chains look similar to McDonald's from outside, the same red and yellow scheme. But they sold Chinese snacks, like typical Chinese breakfast of soymilk, that fried stick thingie (you2 tiao2), and all kinds of baozi and pies. If they open a branch in Houston, I would move to a nearby place so that I can eat there often :D
