It just baffles me that you can deep fry frozen food, I mean they should just melt.

I don't know if you read the recipe I posted on page 12 of this thread, but the batter coating acts as a form of insulation when its deep fried.

I notice Chinese , but particularly Thai. restaurants that aim at attracting European patronage, sometimes offer it their deserts.

You want to try it sometime, its quite nice:)

But seriously, a real dish cannot have sugar, it is just weird. How can you have meat that is sweet.
It's a whatever works thing I guess. Meat has its own sweetness, but not like sugar. I can't imagine having tomato and eggs without a little sugar...... way too sour and salty IMO.

The first time I have ever heard of fried wonton was when I came to America. Before that I never knew it was possible to fry wonton.
You are in New Jersey, right? Wait until you find a ma-n-pa restaurant in the hills! You know what Egg FuYong is? And when in Vermont, beware of the local "chow mein"...... You WILL want to MISS it!!!!
The only things on the menu that are actually close to authentic are the broccoli beef, Mongolian beef, and Hot-N-Sour soup (except many of these places are Cantonese and the soup isn't Cantonese at all!)
I could never understand why people eat chicken feet, there is no meat on it! Every time I see it I get grossed out, but my mother loves it.
I am surprised you haven't had scurvy.:D;)
I like mine done the dim sum way, especially since I am on braces, but it's really about the sauce and the texture of the skin.

NEVER AGAIN will I have Burger King or McDonald's. The smell of that grease is gone.... the patty is tasteless. It's really little food for the money too.... I rather go to a local or Chinese restaurant...... The teriyaki Shogun burger is gone too....

Sausage-sushi.... lemme guess, the idea came from spam musubi?
----
Deep fried ice cream?! At first I thought you meant fried mochi...... but Western ice cream?! Yuck........ They should serve that at Burger King......

If you go to Brooklyn, they have the Chip Shop there, and they will fry about anything..... a waste of food IMO.

I rarely patronize the Chinese restaurants in NJ, they are gross. Oh come on man, chicken feet is just chewing the skin. I don't know if this is a dim sum thing, but when I do go to a dim sum place I always order me a cold jelly fish dish, it is so good.

I can understand the hate against McD, but BK? Come on. Talking about New York, there use to be a Shandong "restaurant" that serves pot stickers, scallion pancakes, and other stuff, it was so cheap and good. However their landlord made them close down.

FOOD CIVIL WAR! But seriously, a real dish cannot have sugar, it is just weird. How can you have meat that is sweet. I mean as a snack yes, but a real dish? Bitter melon is gross no matter how you cook it, bitterness use to be a sign of poison for early humans, I guess I never lost that trait. The first time I have ever heard of fried wonton was when I came to America. Before that I never knew it was possible to fry wonton. Lastly they use both in Mandarin, however I am use to xihongshi.

PS. My mother cooks tomato and eggs with sugar sometimes...I like it(now I am a traitor to my northern brothers lol).

you traitor!! :D Actually, I am a traitor myself since I LOVE LOVE chicken feet (did I just say LOVE 3 times? YEAH!).

But sersiously, the sourness in the tomato can be countered by salt and other spices. In my opinion, sweetness belongs to dessert and should be banned in savory dishes.

I consider myself the master of vinegar sauce-making. I think I should start packaging my sauce and selling it......

Yea get the ban hammer on sugar in dishes! Master of vinegar sauce making eh, sounds like a challenge, forum war? JK JK

Try this sauce if you like garlic, salt, sesame oil and water. Get a mortar and half a clove of garlic, pour salt in it. Pound that mixture until it is mush, put the mixture in a dish, and pour sesame oil half a spoonish, add some water mix it all up and enjoy. I am enjoying this dumpling sauce currently, a lot of my western friends love it.
