Maybe a stupid question, but this is IMO more likely related to the H-20 or any new type and not for the H-6 with its narrow bomb-bay?! Or am I wrong?
While narrow, it should be around ~1.9m. It's still a bomber designed for ancient vanilla 1940s nukes.
There are sayings that the IWB of the H-6 family is only about 6 to 6.5 meters long, whereas the CJ-20 is about 8 meters long.
In the meantime, I kinda doubt that the GJ-X's IWB will only be about 6.5 meters long, given how it's about 21-24 meters long per satellite imagery. Same for the H-20 (that she is meant to carry large-sized payloads), per some unverified rumors.
Hence, I'd choose to play it safe and assume that this is meant for the H-6.
Would be small diameter missiles, if the center of the rotary system is 50cm to fit in H-6, it look like about 20cm diameter max for the missiles. Numbers would still be interesting but range or warhead payload of these would be small.
A testing bed would still help testing the system to scale it up for new platforms.
Technically, this setup could still fit Tomahawk-sized cruise missiles (~0.52 meters in diameter, ~5.6 meters in length) inside the H-6, in case China does have such missiles in active service. Yes, it'd be a tight fit, albeit most likely not undoable.

In the meantime, again, yes - This may well just be a testbed for the development of rotary launchers for the GJ-X and H-20, though there is no way to verify this.

I'm kind of late on this. What is the improvement from CJ-10 to CJ-20?
Yes. Though the YJ-83K doesn't seem to have much of a long range compared to other mainline AShMs in the PLA arsenal, and is both non-LO and subsonic. So I'd suppose that such loadouts on a H-6 would be used for the finishing-off segment of anti-ship missions?
CJ-20 is basically the air-launched variant of CJ-10.
