H-6K's in Nanjing

Very nice pic.

The H-6K is a very credible, updated and modernized cruise missile carrier. Extends the PLAN's "reach" significantly.

I recently got my H-6 1/72 scale model. It is not a "K" but I believe I have enough pics and specs to be able to make a scratch build retrofit and show it as such...which is what I intend to do.

The Chinese are accomplishing the same type of thing with their H-6 fleet as the US did with their B-52s. In the US case, they have retrofitted modern electronics, sensors and weapons into the old birds, where they continually maintain them and replace older, fatigued structure with new structure.

In the PRC's case now, they are opting for entirely new builds with the H-6Ks.

Is it customary to not have hangar for large plane or plane exceeding a certain size?

This is mostly a matter of climate. I remember that some thirty years ago many aircraft were damaged on the airport of Munich by hail stones. If that is a serious danger you will have to put planes into hangars or fly them away or accept considerable losses in time and money to repair them. I suppose the damage in Munich resulted from failure in the weather forecast.

Can anyone tell if it retains the centreline bomb bay? And it's probably too much to ask if anyone knows whether it can have the bomb bay as well as all the pylons loaded all at once?
