H-6 Bomber Aircraft Discussions

If even M models are getting replaced, does that mean that legacy H-6 are not in use anymore, anywhere? And that all the PLAAF units (now including ex PLANAF units since the unification) are using solely K models or K derived models?

Also, what does it mean for the tanker variants? With the Y-20 tankers in use and in production, when might we see retirement of the H-6 tankers?
Were all these legacy airframes are going for salvage ?

it makes sense to put them in storage, in case they will be needed some years down the road. if the Russo-ukraine war offers any lessons its these stored platforms can be quite useful. even today an old platform like H-6M would be quite useful launching KD63 or KD88, to deliver a large volume of air to ground fire.

They have probably a lot of common parts with the latest variant. But these planes take wide place in storage, they are not J-7... Maybe and airbase in dry climate that have free places to spare could be used ?

A visit to the historical archive: Today marks the 55th anniversary of the H-6's successful maiden flight at Yanliang, Xian.

More than 200x H-6s will be built in the following decades, as they form China's aerial primary power projection and deterrence element.

But wasn't this maiden flight in 1968 ... so the 55th anniversary?
