There were rumors circulating last month that the new bomber will be unveiled before the end of the year ... don't know how credible though. There was a big stir about a prototype being rolled out in June.

SDF and PDF are oriented around different purposes; the latter is definitely more casual and lacking in complicated analysis (which SDF specializes in) but it's also a hotbed for new information/rumors which may be credible or not. . There are many fanboys (*ahem* J-20 thread) in PDF but there's also some highly experienced members who post relevant information even faster than here on SDF. Indeed, there mightn't be anything objectively bad about PDF compared to SDF but, like you said, they're different and they serve different purposes. By78's objective can be summed up as trying to keep them different because if they become identical, then one of them will be redundant and distinct features of their former selves like emphasis on analysis vs rumour aggregation will be lost. It's more enriching for us PLA-watchers to have a multitude of options when it comes to PLA-watching forums, each with their own idiosyncrasies catering to different tastes or moods.

I don't hate fanboyism per se; I just hate to see it here at SDF because I rely on it for information that have been objectively vetted. Believe or not, there is a need for such information amongst Chinese military watchers and enthusiasts.
The lack of fanboyism is what makes this place distinct. Indeed, it's SDF's defining feature, and I'd love to keep it that way, even if I have to be "snobbish", "sarcastic", and mean-spirited.
