May I come back to this - in fact IMO - first question to be answered?!
You probably aren't going to get an answer for this one lol.
Wait another five years, and if this thing is real I imagine we will get more noise about it.

A ret. Col. and now a Military Expert, I would say credible enough and probably has insider info also just like pop3Who is this gentleman? And indeed how credible is he?
I am surprised you haven't seen him before. I randomly came across this gentleman on the internet since the time he was younger-looking.Who is this gentleman? And indeed how credible is he?

Icloo has already explained this
The Q-5, J-7, J-8 and older PLAAF aircraft
Looks like the J-8 has a cockpit equivalent to a Russian flanker Another J-8 cockpit image, although I'm not sure which variant it is.www.sinodefenceforum.com
LMAO NO.
Comments from randos may not be the best way to judge the credibility of DuNot saying that his claim is outright wrong, but:
Judging by the comments to that original post on Weibo - We do have Fu Qianshao (also a former PLA officer) as a cautionary tale (To put it simply, he's the Chinese version of Jai Hind).
Speaking of pop3, we do know that pop3 has a solid track record of accurate, if not near-accurate leaks on PLAN development on quite a lot of instances.
Besides, even if he's right, the statement provided is very vague. "Ready for test flight soon" could mean within 5 days, 5 weeks, 5 months or even 5 years, judging by our past experiences in PLA-watching.
I'd warrant cautions with claims on things with such historical significance and importance to national defense.
