If the WU-14 HGV prove to be effective enough why bother with a strategic bomber? Don't get me wrong I do like to see China having a B-2 type strategic bomber, but play a role more as an electronic warfare instead of strike missions.

The same reason strike fighters and bombers have not been made obsolete by long range cruise missiles and ICBMs.

Bombers are more flexible, they can be used against more targets in one sortie, in some cases they can designate and provide datalink support for their own weapons without relying on offboard sensors, and of course they are also cheaper depending on the kind of target and the number of targets you are seeking to destroy.

In other words it is optimal to have bombers as well as long range missile systems (or hypersonic gliders in future). They complement each other.

To be fair the similarity is only in the air intakes, so to give SAC some credit, resemble is a better word. the black JH-XX model is quite unique in its overall aerodynamic configuration for a plane of its size, given the Boeing concept is for a fighter

Negative on both, It resembles a fifth generation fighter more then either but it is definitely a regional bomber type. the cockpit glass is to small for a fighter but perfect for a 2-4 man crew of a bomber. the wing would be fine fore a basic fighter but not a nimble fighter. as as to 6th gen there seem no DEW or reason to assume such. the Weapons bay is massive stressing strikes the weapons also large.

Let's leave the "based on" or "resemble" deduction for another time. I like the look of the CG! Bravo to the guys and/or girls who spend their time to produce the CG!

... btw, is that the Senkaku/Diaoyudao in the background?
