A larger missile truck would need larger missiles too. Remember the concept was based on B1 and F15X neither are LO and would be standing off.
I have never heard of Scaling up DAD to get more range I doubt it to. Radar sure but DAS.... And 130km seems pretty optimum conditions at best.

Jamming does favor the stealth but can attract attention of its own. Antiradiation missiles.

The modular system concept is smart yes but as an airsuperiority system it's not realistic.
Roles like tanker, ISR make sense. But have you ever heard of an armed AEW? No. And for good reason it's not suited to the job.
Mounting of a AEW radar in a bomber is also questionable. Unless you build it in day one and with realistic limits of DAS. It's unlikely that you can use it as a horizon range AEW.
The better bet is lots of smaller assets with radar and DAS networking and since they are networking data unmanned birds are the better bet.

I think in the future AEW&C craft will have at least SACM on-board to attempt to defeat interceptor missiles. It's not like it's a huge departure from chaff, the difference between SACM systems and chaff is that SACM is active; it's essentially active chaff.

As for scaling up EO sensors, it's actually more about scaling up the lens. A f / 1.4 delivers the same light quantity on APS-C as an f / 4 on 35mm. The bigger the optics, the more light you'll receive and be able to process.

While it is true that you can have more detail if you increase either the exposure or the collector area of an optical sensor there are also things like attenuation and atmospheric conditions. Which means the visibility will be highly variable. There is a reason why optical telescopes are typically placed in places with no light pollution and with clear skies. Then there is the curvature of the Earth if you go really long range. Unlike with long wavelength radar you cannot count on the ionosphere to bounce the signal back in that case.
Plus it is not like stealth is exclusive to radar signals. There are ways to reduce IR emissions, While you cannot totally hide them with combustion engines the emission level is not the same from all angles. This is one of the reasons why supercruise is considered to be such a big deal. Dry thrust has much lower IR emissions.

I think a JH-XX is unlikely at this point because Chinese engine technology is not quite there yet. But it is true that the J-20's internal bays are not large enough for big standoff missiles like large cruise missiles. I think you would need to use external hard points for that. I do think such an aircraft makes sense for China but I do not see it happening any time soon. Especially since Xian is busy with producing both the Y-20 and H-20. As is, the J-20 already should have more range than most of its opponents in the region of the same generation. It should improve further with the new engines. Plus AFAIK it can carry four external drop tanks.

If you do the calculation, at 70,000 ft you have about 400km of detection range. Stuff like the J-20 are IR vulnerable, especially since the J-20 is a heavyweight fighter (more engines to create heat) that's less IR-stealth optimized than American counterparts.

What's more, the matching new bombardment is that the medium culvert ratio is larger, the culvert ratio is more than 2, the thrust is 12 tons, the HPT is changed to 2, the turbine has stronger function and greater thrust potential.

The "designer" must have a huge challenge to house his proposed "two side bays each 6 missiles of 7.6 meters and 5000km range" which sit at the same spot as the air ducts and engines. His design must be in four-dimension world.:D
That is pretty amusing and, as far as I can see, intentionally so. But it's also not what my post was about.

I wouldn’t follow 草根 too seriously. He’s a great drawer but he’s not an information source. What he does best is aggregating information, throwing in a few of his own ideas into them, and turning it into fun speculative designs.
