Actually, Golly, it's Project 57 BIS "Gnevny", but as I was away to Jakarta, I'm not going to press the BIS issue:nono: :D

I thought it just meant Golly's answer was incomplete ;)

BIS = Russian suffix applied to many military types meaning improved, although technically a corruption of the French (/latin) meaning second (as in; first, second). Could be taken to imply second generation of design. Ie MiG-21Bis was the watershed second genertion of the MiG-21 series.

My posts bore even me sometimes.

I wrote 103? Damn, I meant 102! The exhausts on the rear fenders are a way to tell these two apart, I know, I have photos of both in my hard drive...

Helicopter "D" - first prototype of Kamov's Ka-25. Here is seen at Tushino Air show in July 1961 with fake missile dummies.
