I'd say that's a Martin XB-48.
One participant in the contest for a new medium bomber for the SAC. Around the end of the cold war.
The contest was won by the B-45 and B-47.
Regarding german influence: I think in 1944, the US war department was aware of german advances in jet propulsion for aircraft, especially bombers. So they wanted a design for a medium bomber with sufficient jet power.

Vickers WB-210, prototype of Valiant.
As a sidenote of German influence on XB-48 - the first flight was only 14 June, 1947, meaning that for two years already there was hell of a lot of ex-German wize kids besides Werner von Braun and Walter Dornbeger available/:D

Can I go for a cheap shot and say that Snake is wrong? Like by a milliscule amount; the correct answer is Vickers Type 660.

...

"WB-210" is the seriel number not the type.

Now you both brought me into some trouble. Then again it probably was me saying be precise with the plane. It's indeed the Valiant prototype. But I think the second one already had the fence at the intake removed.
So, WB-210 is even the exact plane, that means snake's answer was right on spot.

lol, I was only kidding. Knowing the seriel of a plane from a los res picture is pretty damn impressive as always. I thought I was ok for military equipment until I started hanging around here.
