The 3 F124 AAW Frigates seem to be replaced by 8 F127 AAW Frigates.
F127 also seems to receive 96 instead of planned 64 VLS cells. It would push F127 to approx. 13.000tons.
Future German fleet would grow to 18 Frigates.

Are they going to use a cruiser to fight in the Baltic? I doubt it.
Military spending to follow the US in its stupid aventures in the South China Sea more like it.

You raise a good point. Why are the German authorities designating vessels displacing ~13,000 tons and equipped with 96 VLS cells as frigates in the first place?

In reality heavy AAW ships are one of the most importent assets in any fight in the Baltics. The Baltic sea is the only reliable way to support 100000s of soldiers and millions of civilians in the Baltic, one cant do that with two small roads and one train track all within in 30 km of the border to Russia and their puppet. But all of the sea lanes are with in the reach of land based Russian systems so you need to be able to defend against that.

Why the Bundeswehr want's to buy 1000 Piranha (with 25mm turret) this makes no sense they operate with the GTK Boxer a similar vehicle? Is it possible that they mean the Piranha V 6X6 designated as "Korsak" (replacment for the Fennek)? But why 1000 units of an wheeld reconnaissance vehicel in the age of drones?
Those will not be all Korsaks but also part Tawan and with 2 new divisions and an reserve of 40% one comes easy to the 1000 Piranhas.

Nah. If it was in the Baltic it would just be a target. Kind of like the Moskva in the Black Sea except worse.

I don't get why you compare those warships with a 50 year old soviet submarine but yes, a couple of F127 could be very useful in the Baltic. In a possible conflict with Russia it would take serval hours or even days to fullfil a SEAD/DEAD mission over Kaliningrad and western Russia. Within this time frame Russia could launch a huge amount of missiles aganst Europe. Sea based platforms like this would be very useful with their huge number of different missiles.

It would be sunk with a single Kh-32 or Zircon.

It is extremely likely even the mosquito fleet of Buyan-M or Karakurt corvettes can launch the Zircon. Like eight of them per ship. They can launch the Oniks which has a similar form factor.

There are also plans to retrofit UKSK launchers to the Project 20380 corvettes when they enter refit. So they could also become Zircon carriers.

Russia has already used land based Bastion-P batteries to launch the Zircon against Ukraine.

And most German cities are far from its tiny coastline. Outside of range of the air defense umbrela of this ship. It is a purely offensive weapon.

Told ya. Then again what to expect from Germany's constant pandering to the US MIC.
They didn't have a joint program with the UK and France for Storm Shadow/SCALP either. Ended up developing the Taurus with a US engine. Instead of SAMP/T they get Patriot. Instead of fixing the issues with the Tiger helicopter they buy Apaches, etc.

Germany cannot even design or produce an engine for a cruise missile. Iran and Ukraine can do that. And then there are people who claim Germany is some sort of industrial power.

In the Eurofighter program Germany wanted more workshare claiming they were buying more aircraft, got the workshare, bungled development due to lack of experience, and then cut their order anyway.
