90bn is only 2% of Gdp though. And abt. 10bn of that went to Ukraine. With that amount you can barely expand your capabilities in a high income country. It is absolutely nessasary to spend more than that for a while. Our Divisions are completely naked and need to be reeqipped.

And yes, Bundeswehr need to remove its ancient structures, and plan it's growth, everyone is aware of that.

1st question should be why the F we freeload the ukrainian incompetency in the first place? 10.000.000.000€ out of 90 billion, more than 10% of OUR defence spending goes to the most corrupt government in Europe. The ukraine had 31 Years time to prepare their country for EU integration, their defense, whatever. they failed in every aspect and should take the L, without taking us with them...

Why should it be germanies/europes cost to defend a clearly incompetent nation state which isn't even a treaty ally?

Bundeshaushalt offers almost 160.000.000.000€ for defence in 2029, thats almost a third total government spending....

Then maybe that's what they should do first. Boosting the budgets without getting rid of the rot is like constructing a ship before its plans are finalized. Just ask the USN how well that's working out for Constellation.

1000 leopards seem an utterly insane order... at the rate of production of leopards the new orders won't be ready till mid of the century. If only that other european countries actually produces their own tanks instead of simply congesting leopard orders.

Between effectively losing access to cheap Russian natural gas and growing competition from Chinese manufacturers, German industry hasn't exactly been doing very well lately, especially Volkswagen.

So it's plausible that the German authorities are moving ahead with certain defense acquisitions, that may be of dubious military value, principally for the sake of keeping certain factories open and skilled workers employed.

Why the Bundeswehr want's to buy 1000 Piranha (with 25mm turret) this makes no sense they operate with the GTK Boxer a similar vehicle? Is it possible that they mean the Piranha V 6X6 designated as "Korsak" (replacment for the Fennek)? But why 1000 units of an wheeld reconnaissance vehicel in the age of drones?
