The fact that they are worried about people ignoring them tells me that they are very insecure.

Talking about Farmville, my wife is playing a Chinese equivalent of the same game. I think it's with QQ. Some of her friends are in China and of course because of the time difference, they would begin playing when we get to sleep. She would get up in the middle of the night to harvest so that her crop/eggs/baby animals would not be stolen by her friends :nono::nono::nono:
One day, I found her visibly upset about something. I asked what's bothering her, she said one of her friends stole all of her valuable crop in the middle of night and left her with nothing. And she vowed that she would stop being friend with this gal since she could tell that this girl is not a moral person...
A quick look at the related Wikipedia page gives me the impression that this game is intended to be a rip off.
A game where other players can steal you stuff when you're not online isn't a game I'd want to play. Sounds like just asking for a lot of aggravation.
Apparently users can use real money to buy virtual money to purchase virtual upgrades and other stuff in the game. Farmville also used to trick its users into paying advertisers for services they thought were free. Actually Facebook is full of this crap, I lost $13 thanks to a text msg service that kept sending me texts that were costing me $1 each just to receive.I thought the game was for free.
I wonder if thats a reflection of what Chinese society has become during the last 3 decades?
ummm.. what? explain please...
When vesicles remarked that his wifes online friend had stolen her wife's crop to sell in the game, i was wondering whether it was symtomatic of the lowering of personal morals/integrity as China intergrates herself into the highly rat race world.(Some old Chinese seem to think that)
I didnt mean to single out China. as IMO 99.9% of the world is of a similar mindset. Even in Nz 40yrs ago you could leave your home/ car unlocked, it would be very unusual to have it stolen. NOway could you do that here now.
Switzerland and Japan which I have visited regularly still seem to have kept a high standard of personal respect for other peoples property., I have left change for $20-40 on the bar, gone away for a few minutes and it still there. In many countries it would be long gone.
