CNA summary of the aftermath by Pelosi thus far. There are the PLA super military drills, Blinken saying more stupid stuff, suspended cooperation between China and USA, sanctions on Pelosi and family, Taiwanese fisherman woes, Taiwanese fuel shortages, Taiwanese exports impacted, and Chinese tourists flocking to Pingtan Island to catch the action.

At the end of the video, a Chinese tourist at Pingtan expressed renewed pride in China after the initial disappointment for allowing Pelosi to land in Taipei untouched. Because the PLA had already crossed the median line and fired missiles over Taiwan. How quickly the mood has changed in China. LOL!

The main statements of the Chinese Foreign Ministry:

- China suspends dialogue with the United States at the level of regional military commands;

- China cancels working meetings with representatives of the US Department of Defense;

- China temporarily suspends cooperation with the United States in the field of combating illegal migration;

— China suspends cooperation with the United States in the fight against drugs;

— China suspends Sino-US talks on climate change;

The only one of these that matters is suspending dialogue with America. Even that isn't very smart and is the equivalent of what America is doing with Russia.

Overall the response has me underwhelmed. These exercises are clearly not a blockade of any kind, despite what Taiwanese are saying. It's looking like the CPC overpromised and under delivered. Next time they should be doing the opposite.

FM needs to understand that often less is more. Instead of spouting off lines like, "This action seriously violates the soverignity of China." Instead simply say something like, "OK. China will respond as required."

Action has always been valued more than rhetoric in Chinese culture, dunno why this aspect hasn't been carried into modern geopolitics.
