I am actually impressed on how quickly the pilot realised something was wrong and he ejected without a second thought. Good training.
If he had just waited 1 more second, the situation would have turned much more serious

Watching the video, I don't see any rain covers. It looks pretty clean to me.
I wonder if it was down to it being an engine problem that we know they have.
It's also interesting the video was leaked - to my knowledge this is unprecedented. If you were the pilot or a member of the air crew and saw newspapers essentially blaming you for the crash, but you knew it wasn't your fault. You may be tempted to leak the video of it to give your side of the story.

Looks like this will correlate with the Block 4 timeline. New engine is claimed to increase F-35 range by 30%.
This timing is same as planned new su-57 engines.
As for the new engines for j-20, isn't it eh, before that? or around the same again?
