I wouldn't say reducing the pilots skill level, but actually the aircraft is reducing the pilots "workload", with the flaps being "coupled to the glideslope by the autopilot/FCS in order to maintain glidepath, the pilot is able to give his attention to actually flying the airplane in the pattern and down the approach, the HMS will also make that a MO-BETTA deal.... anyone thinking that this would somehow reduce the skill level has likely never contemplated the physics of hitting a moving target, any time of day or night, in any weather..... that my friend is a "humbling endeavor"!
In the case of the F-35C, reducing the skill level in landing was part of the program.
