Hope the people seeing the expo won't be as full as now when I go their in July. Just hearing people waiting for 4 hours to enter is already scaring me ><
according to various news articles, the number of visitors are already dropping.

I've read even though they sold something like half a million tickets for the first day only half showed up. Smells fishy. Plus I wouldn't put it past some in the press to outright lie. Just like during the Olympics, they were reporting how they saw few people at the Olympic green yet it seems all the big events there were full of spectators.

do any of you know which are the building that will remain after the expo is over?

The host China pavilion will remain. Normally, foreign pavilions have to be dismantled after the Expo. However, there is a special motion in front of the Expo organizing committee to make an exception for the Shanghai Expo.

French prime minister Sarkozy has made it clear that France intends to gift the French pavilion to China. In other words, the French pavilion will "remain after the expo is over."

Sarkozy also wished that the pavilion could be retained after the Shanghai World Expo as a gift to the Chinese people.

Therefore, unlike some other temporary pavilions, the French pavilion has been built and decorated to be a permanent building from the beginning."

"According to the rules of the Bureau of International Expositions (BIE), the governing body of the World Expos, and plans from Shanghai Expo organizers, all foreign pavilions are to be dismantled after the event and the Expo site redeveloped.

At the Aichi Expo in Japan five years ago, all the Expo structures were removed and the site was rebuilt as a youth training camp.

After Expo Shanghai, only a few structures will remain on the site. These include the China pavilion, the Theme pavilion, the Cultural Center, Expo Center and Expo Boulevard. These will become permanent landmarks on the site after Expo finishes at the end of October.

But some foreign countries want to retain their pavilions in Shanghai or elsewhere in China as a testament to their friendship with China."

Very nice of the French. (no sarcasms inteded)
Indeed I do think those nice-looking buildings should stay, and maybe reuse those buildings too. (Well they can get rid of the American one because it's so dull and boring and ugly. I'm being personal against the building that's all)

Yeah... maybe converted those pavillons that had stayed into some recreational buildings such as restaurant, shopping mall and/or other R&R facilities, so as to attract tourists and bring in the money $$$.:D

I'm being cynical here but thats prime real estate. The area occupied by the USA pavilion for eg, could in turn be replaced by a 20story plus building

Yeah. But I would rather keep some of the more permanent pavillions, the others will be pulled down and hotels or condominiums will be build in those area. The remaining pavillions could be converted to R&R facilities and act as attraction for people to invest into those area and for customers to come in... either way, I am seeing big wads of cash coming in.
