Interesting ship a polyvalent FFG can carry up to 200 troops or 55 vehicles whose 7 MBT, Danemark Navy get 3.
Have they announced a 3rd? I thought they only had two and were not planning ny more.

Very robust ships.

They have a 6,600 ton displacement, basically a DDG armament, but can use that FLEX deck for troop assault operations (including amphibious assault using the crane and embarked landing craft), mine laying, mine clearing, hospital/medical support, or pure transport duties.

Add to that the ASW, AAW, and ASuW capabilities and you have a very flexible and powerful vessel.

I believe Canada is considering an Absalon variant to replace the iriquis DDGs.

Your right yes only 2 this is Iver Huitfeldt which are 3.

In fact Jeff all new European FFG are big, 5000+ tons as old DDG, very good quality especialy new AEGIS like shipsbut they are fewer than the number of replaced vessel and whatever quality you need a minimum number of vessels and in Europe* the minimum number is reached or exceeded ! and US congress have right keep all Ticonderoga less for Perry...

*Only Norvegian Navy has increased the number with 5 new Nansen and also for the moment alone AF maintain the same number of combat aircrafts with 52 F-35A ordered.

JSS-Karel-Doorman-RFA-Argus-Perform-Uncommon-RAS-1024x730.jpg

Naval Today said:
JSS Karel Doorman, the Netherlands Navy’s Joint Support Ship, conducted replenishment-at-sea (RAS) with Royal Navy’s RFA Argus.

The two ships met off the coast of Freetown, Sierra Leone, and engaged in an unusual RAS. During supply operations the vessels are normally positioned next to each other, sailing in the same direction.

In this case, both vessel had only the right side of the ship available for RAS.
Supported by Dynamic Positioning System and anchor, the vessels safely undertook the operation transferring 550 tons of fuel.
