The Turkish Land Forces Command (TLFC) has received into service the first Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI)/AgustaWestland (AW) T129 ATAK combat helicopters, TAI announced on 22 April.

The company did not say how many were delivered, but nine early-delivery, basic-configuration T129A helicopters were ordered by the TLFC ahead of the main batch of 50 T129B platforms, and it was this number that was seen on TAI's flightline ahead of the handover ceremony.

This handover of the first domestically built variant of the AW A129 Mangusta marks an important milestone in a programme that has been dogged by delays. The handover was scheduled to be handed over in mid-2013, but this was put back due to technical issues discovered during acceptance tests.

Re: European armed forces

Some ( seems 4 ) Turkish G/Perry class frigate are armed now with 32 ESSM ( 4 ESSM missiles per MK-41 cell through the use of MK25 Quadpack canisters, total of 8 cells ) as Autralian Perry, one significant update this doubles the number of surface-air missiles.

Which, IMHO, is the type of upgrade the US Navy should have done to about 24 of the Perrys.

Oh well...can't cry over spilled milk. It's gone now.

A good pic of F125 in the water

She looks "massive" for a Frigate

In the age of sail, F125 might have been considered a frigate, considering the definition back then was for any fast, ocean going, independent ship.

But for today, I don't see why the Germans didn't just call F125 a destroyer and be done with it.
