I am not going to go into detail on how I feel about this story...I will just post it.
Please, do not let this became a point of contention.
I found it almost impossible to believe at first...but did my own checking.
But it's true. Sweden has instituted a state funded program to help integrate their new Muslim immigrants into society by training them...to be snipers!
Look at the pictures and follow the links. The 2nd link is to a Swedish site where it is being encouraged and they are excited that these immigrants are "laddade-for-prickskytte", which means, "Fired up for Sniping." They say the program is a great success and the interest amongst the new immigrants has "exploded." Ya think?

It would appear the rounds being loaded in the nylon magazine are .22cal rimfire, with an Eley stamp on the case. While almost "all youngsters" like guns and like to shoot, and the weapons appear to be the small caliber Olympic rifles, I would conclude that these are likely Olympic drills or designed to mirror Olympic drills. Hence they are teaching shooting basics, and safe and accurate handling of firearms.
So, in all honesty the term sniper has been misappropriated to raise concern for this activity which we see the young people participating in with their "instructors"??? Sooooo? that is not smart is it???????
But let me remind you that here in the US, the EAA is "orienting" young people, even at risk populations to the joy, challenges of flying????? aaaaannnnnddddd
The NRA has a similar program directed toward youth, and yes even at risk youth populations teaching them the shooting disciplines and gun safety?? Now this is all off the top of my head, and a little honest research will get you some numbers and find similar pictures
As a Pastor, Teacher, Bus Driver, let me assure you that young people often do respond well to such "early intervention", as well as the extension of trust, whether flying an aircraft, or shooting a target weapon. You MUST create and maintain that bond of trust in order to achieve your aim of "inculcating" your values into these young people, and likely new citizens???
Now that was the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, boy scout wisdom?? right? right! will it still work?? and that Gentlemen is why we think this is dangerous, because it is. That is honestly still the approach we use in the United States Military, and it is sound to the core, but it doesn't take into acct the Maj Hassan's among us, who betray us all?
So many of you were expecting my little "snarky" retort here, and I was tempted to just label this "stupid", but I thought about how we have been doing it, and that's what we have done that has been so successful, it will take a very serious vetting process in everything we do to fight terrorism at home?
