3 Killed In Fresh Violence In Manipur, BJP MLA Blames Central Forces

Manipur violence: Two men, father and son, and another person at the adjoining house, were killed in the firing. They were unarmed villagers guarding their houses.

If the proper action is not taken immediately, peace and normalcy would not be restored in the state, the BJP MLA said.

"Certain proactive measures need to be taken immediately, and the Chief Security Advisor must look into these aspects. There are people behind the militants to create trouble. Who is supplying arms and ammunition to them (militants). Central government must answer these questions. There is violence going on for more than three months. Central government must take certain stringent measures to stop violence, otherwise the situation would go out of control. Manipur needs peace and normalcy," he added.
The Manipur Police on Friday said joint forces conducted search operations in vulnerable and fringe areas of the strife-torn state and destroyed seven illegal bunkers after fresh violence broke out across various districts.
Looks like this Manipur unrest is not going away anytime soon.

Unlike most other ethnic insurgencies in the North East which have ended with peace pacts signed with the Centre, the Meitei insurgent groups have continued to hold on to their separatist demands, refusing to engage in political dialogue with the Indian state. Curfew in parts of India’s Manipur after protests over killing of students

Dozens of students injured in violence following protests over alleged abduction and murder of two Meitei students, officials say.

“Indefinite curfew had to be implemented in Imphal and in some other districts,” L Kailun, a senior police official posted in Imphal, said on Thursday.

More than 80 students were injured in Wednesday’s clashes, another police official said on condition of anonymity, adding that the situation was “extremely tense” after armed mobs vandalised an office of the governing party and hurled petrol bombs at the police parties.

Mobile internet services have been suspended in the state for five days, officials said.

I can see why the police thinks the situation was "extremely tense".
